Portraits can be made in a formal setting (I can provide background materials as required) or a natural landscape. I like picturing people in a setting that tells something about their personality.
Postage is included in the prices. I can have charcoal and watercolour portraits framed for you for an additional £30-£35 depending on the size of the picture. I use this company for frames.
Oil Portraits of People
£300 framed
My oil paintings are made using the same techniques as the oil paintings of Salvador Dalì, himself having learned from Renaissance painters. Oil portraits require 10-20 hours sitting, divided into 2-3 hour sessions. Alternatively, a portrait can be made from a high resolution photo (digital, slide or paper). The best results are obtained when 2 months are allowed for painting.
Charcoal Portraits
All portraits in the style of the five examples below are £100.
The largest piece was 1.1m x 1.1m, I can go slightly larger for life size full body portrait.
Small charcoal portraits for company websites are £30
Portraits in Other Media
pencil, pen and ink
Portraits of Animals
Oil painting of any pet, £100
various sizes available
The samples below illustrate my style in painting animals, often focussing on the soft fur. In pet portraits, I usually try to do something nice and geometric with the background as well. The white Persian cat on the yellow chair was my own cat so I was able to show a bit more of his personality, otherwise I'm keen to hear about this from the owner!
Wood engraving of a pet
printed on fine Japanese paper, £10 per print.
I will likely make an edition of 25 and sell part of them locally. In the case of the print below the name was engraved out after making the other print run to sell. These are small prints, about 5cm by 8cm for the cat for example.
